ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤ Leaders Share Updates With Alumni
ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤ On The Road sessions focus on diversity and inclusion, strategic planning, and presidential search.
In a series of sessions through the fall and winter, Acting President Hugh Porter and Dean for Institutional Diversity Mary James went on the road to provide alumni with an inside look at some important campus issues, including diversity and inclusion, college priorities, and the presidential search.
Dean James explored the idea of “access” in higher education as being more than an acceptance letter, a scholarship, and a seat in a classroom. True access, she argued, is to receive the necessary inspiration and support to master disciplinary skills, acquire academic savvy, and develop a strong sense of belonging both within the ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤ community and within one’s chosen discipline.
The cities in the “ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤ on the Road” tour included New York, Washington, D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland.

ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤ On The Road will resume in the spring with Alice Harra, Associate Dean of Students, and Director of the Center For Life Beyond ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤.
Student success in higher education extends beyond access and affordability of college. Professional development, alongside ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤'s intellectual development, enhances students' clarity, confidence, skills, and connections to pursue work they love. Rather than a traditional career center, ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤'s Center for Life Beyond ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤ is focused on developmental strategies for exploring one's purpose while at ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤. Alice Harra, Director of Center for Life Beyond ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤, will share what students can do to prepare for their lives beyond ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤, and how ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ÕŽòè¤ alumni are influencing every field of endeavor. Your participation will be welcome as you share your work and purpose with us, too.
